Review a client’s performance

Choose the right account and dates, interpret the results, and save a private report for review.

Confirm the account and access

You need access to the intended client’s advertising results and report creation. Connect and authorize the correct advertising account first, then check its client link. An account appearing in a provider list does not prove that its results can be read.

Choose a clear question, such as how this month’s selected campaigns compare with the preceding period. Use only metrics that answer that question.

1. Review the source results

  1. Open Ads manager and select the intended provider, account, and exact date range.
  2. Confirm the linked client, account time zone, campaign selection, comparison dates, and any warnings about missing or older data.
  3. Review the results before writing conclusions. Separate measured changes from possible explanations, and call out metrics the account does not provide.

2. Build the report

  1. Open Reports and select New report.
  2. Under Accounts & dates, choose Client, select the Ad accounts, and set Start date and End date. You can include up to ten linked accounts for the same client and currency; all use these dates.
  3. For each account, use Find a campaign and select the campaigns to include. Select all shown applies to the displayed set; searching does not remove selected eligible campaigns. Active campaigns only uses current status. Campaigns with spend includes positive spend during your selected dates, even for paused campaigns. Selecting either filter clears the other.
  4. Choose Metrics separately for each account, with at least one campaign and metric per account. For multiple accounts, also select Combined performance metrics. Review YOUR REPORT for the Ad accounts, Reporting period, Compared with dates, and each account’s campaign and metric counts.
  5. Select Generate report. This saves a private report; nothing is sent to the client.

3. Review the saved result

Compare the saved account, dates, campaigns, and totals with the source selection. The comparison uses the preceding period of the same length; read its dates before explaining a change.

Add context that separates observations, possible causes, and proposed next steps. Use Save notes after editing. Do not turn unavailable data into a zero or claim a change caused a result without evidence.

Saved reports are snapshots. Refreshing Ads manager does not update a report you previously saved or shared.

  2. Open the report to review its source choices and notes.
  3. Generate report saves privately. Review the saved report before sharing.

4. Decide whether it is ready to share

When the report is approved for delivery, open Share report and review the Client email, viewing mode, Link expires, and Session length before Create private link. Copying a link is not sending it, and sending is not proof of inbox delivery.

Check the exact saved version and recipient before sharing. Use the sharing guide for access choices and recovery.

If results or controls are missing

  • No account: check the provider connection, selected resource, client link, and your access.
  • No campaigns: review filters and dates. You can select up to 200 campaigns per account.
  • Generate report unavailable: select at least one campaign and one to 16 metrics per account, choose Combined performance metrics for multiple accounts, and use a period no longer than one year. Resolve any campaign-loading or unavailable-spend warning before generating.
  • Generation fails: inspect the error, then reload the affected account’s campaigns or remove that account and review the reduced coverage. If a save needs confirmation, use Retry report save, including after reloading the same tab, instead of generating another report. Check Saved reports before choosing Stop retrying; this does not delete a saved report.
